Dental Fillings

At the office of Dr. Jacob Myers, we’re proud to provide children and families in East Lansing, Lansing, and Dewitt with comprehensive pediatric dental care. While our goal is for all of our patients to have perfect smiles, some issues are bound to arise. Even when your child sticks to a routine tooth-brushing schedule and practicing good oral hygiene, patients can experience tooth fracture and decay. Our practice uses composite dental fillings to restore your child’s fractured or decayed teeth, keeping them happy and healthy for the years ahead.

What Are Children’s Dental Fillings?

At some point in life, most people will develop a cavity due to too much sugar consumption combined with improper oral hygiene. In turn, most people will also have to visit their dentist for a dental filling. Dental fillings restore damaged or decayed teeth to their normal structure and functionality. At our practice, our children’s dental fillings are tooth-colored so that they can maintain the best cosmetic appearance for your child, while also fully repairing tooth decay and fracture caused by cavities. The shade of the filling is matched as closely as possible to your child’s teeth, allowing it to blend naturally with their smile.

Is A Dental Filling Right For My Child?

Dental fillings for children are the best and easiest way to repair tooth decay and strengthen the tooth for long-term health. At our pediatric dental office, we use a new type of tooth-colored filling material called glass ionomer for filling small cavities in your child’s primary teeth. This material is preferred because it not only matches the natural color of your child’s teeth, but it also releases fluoride from the filling to the tooth slowly over the course of the restoration. This promotes long-term overall tooth health to improve your child’s smile.
