Your Teeth

Primary (baby) teeth are the first teeth that will appear in your mouth. These teeth start to erupt around the ages of six to eight months. By the time you’re three years old, all 20 primary teeth will be in place.

Permanent teeth will start to grow in at around the age of six. With the exception of your wisdom teeth, all permanent teeth should be in place sometime between the ages of 12 and 14. The total number of permanent teeth is 32. Eight of these teeth are your front teeth (four on the top and four on the bottom). They’re called incisors. Next to them are the four sharp teeth called the canines. The next eight teeth are referred to as bicuspids or pre-molars. The final 12 teeth in your mouth are the molars.
